We have a gift – all dogs do. We are very adept at figuring out how to get things that people think are out of reach. Leaving good smelling food out on the counter? Hardly a challenge; that’s like an open door for us. We will figure out a way to get that food, no matter what we have to do. We tried this a lot more when we were younger, but we eventually had to tone down our thievery because it would make Mom and Dad angry, and we don’t much like when that happens. But Bertram did manage to sneak a whole stick of butter when she was little, and she and I shared a cold, delicious Frappuccino from Starbucks when we were wee ones (come on, it was left in a car cup holder!).
The Dog to Human Translation:
When there’s something that you really want in life, go after it. Find a way to get it. Don’t let your own hesitations or doubts stop you or hold you back.
Don’t listen to the worries or fears going through your mind. You have the power to tell them all to be quiet and go someplace else while you go after what you want.
Just because something appears to be out of reach, doesn’t mean it actually is. You control your life. You can accomplish whatever you set your mind to. The key is to use all your resources and to be persistent. Use your mind, your creativity, your energy, your strength, your voice. Tell others what you want and put your message out to the universe. Don’t let anything stand in your way. If there is a hydrant or baby gate in your way, figure out how to get past it. Sometimes it may mean a shift in direction completely, but as long as you know the ultimate destination, you’ll find a way to get there. Don’t let failures get you down or make you give up. Just dust off and go at it again. And again. And again.
Use your resources and your ingenuity and you’ll be amazed at what you can take off the counter.
